Okay, “Unilete” stands for “UNIversal athLETE.”  Rolling the story backward to the 1990′s, I ran the Eastern Hemisphere (Asian) division for one of the top women’s fashion bodywear companies.  I opened and ran their first office in Tokyo, Japan and am known for developing the first direct US apparel accounts with the top Japanese major department stores and fitness clubs.  It was a blast!

I started Unilete in 2000, bought a small sports apparel factory named Tiernan, and taught myself how to design and make patterns.  My experience in fashion apparel brought a unique twist to the athletic uniform business, and we soon found our niche.  Every year we add a few new Clients.  We rarely, if ever, lose clients.  Our commitment to quality and service keeps them happy.  Those clients happen to include the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Sparks.  It’s really fun to be able to run with company like that.

But the main thing is this:  Everyone that works for me loves what they do.  Hey, everyday may not turn out as planned, and we certainly have our “creative differences.”   Yet there is a genuine love and goal of turning out true art in every jersey, pair of shorts, every garment and custom uniform that leaves  the Unilete Factory.  It’s a place of love and commitment.  And if you believe in that kind of thing, then you are definitely our kind of client.
